Twelve Day Today Preludes & Fugues is difficult to classify. Is it classical music, sound art, electronic/digital experiment, noise music?
It has motion and pulse, physicality and visuality; some find it relaxing and meditative, others find it tense. Just listen, let the images come and enjoy the interplay between the lines of sound - I hope you get some pleasure and a little challenge from the 'music'.

For the record: the works on this Album are inspired by abstract art and Baroque counterpoint and pulse. They play on and explore the form of preludes and fugues championed by Bach. Bach (and Shostakovich) wrote twenty four prelude and fugue pairs for the keyboard, each in the twenty four potential major and minor keys of the chromatic scale. Twelve Day Today Preludes & Fugues displaces key with simple daily sound; the lines of counterpoint are replaced by lines of sound interacting across the stereo spectrum.

Every day-to-day sound will hold significance for a listener. Each sound carries, even if unconsciously and subtly for its observer, a spatial, physical, visual, psychological, cultural and symbolic significance. Each sound will solicit some familiar emotional response or recognition. In Twelve Day Today Preludes & Fugues individual sounds are handled as if they are meaningful notes or sequences of notes. Phrases are created out of associations. Polyphonic lines of sound are structured out of these phrases; they interplay and interact. A piece of music evolves which can be interpreted by the listener in their own unique way.
